ソーシャルデザインは、社会問題の解決に向けて、市民のために市民とともに、有意義なものを考え出そうとする仕事です。デザインされるものは、空間でも、道具でも、事業でも、何でもありえます。ソーシャルデザインの呼び名は、利益をあげるよりも、社会への貢献を重んじるデザイナーの姿勢をあらわす言葉として、今世紀になって広まりました。本展示ではソーシャルデザインの基本となる考えとともに、関西の幾つかの事例を取り上げます。良い社会に向けて、どんな場面において、どんな創意工夫がなされうるのかについて考えてみたいと思います。

Exploring Social Design
Social design is the act of creating solutions to social problems together with citizens. It can take many forms—spaces, tools, projects, and everything in between—all serving a central social purpose. The concept has rapidly gained traction in this century, reflecting designers’ increasing commitment to society over profit. This exhibition invites you to reconsider what design truly means today.
